Early version. Nutrient values from USDA FoodData Central; dietitian review in progress. Not medical advice.

About HowHealthyIs

HowHealthyIs answers one question for every food: how healthy is it? You get a short, plain answer, a transparent 0-100 score, the numbers for the portion you actually eat, and the sources behind them.

Why we built it

Most nutrition sites give you a table of numbers and leave the judgment to you, or give you a judgment without the numbers. We wanted both, in a way you can check. Every answer on this site follows the same published method, so a score on one page means the same thing on every other page.

How we work

  • Nutrient data comes from USDA FoodData Central and is checked automatically every day.
  • The HowHealthyIs Score is calculated the same way for every food, and the method is public.
  • Automation helps us draft and check, but a human editor and a registered dietitian approve health content before it is published. See oureditorial policy.
  • We do not use fear, guilt or diet-culture language. Every food has a context.

Who is behind it

HowHealthyIs is built and run by Buinsoft, a software company. Our dietitian reviewers are listed on the reviewers page. Write to us at hello@howhealthyis.com.
